Wood Pellet Mill

If your new to the whole pellet making idea,finding the correct pellet mill can be very confusing. A lot more people are turning to pellet stoves to ease or eliminate the huge heating bills. Making wood pellets for your pellet stove is a great way to do this. If you look around,chances are you can get your material for FREE. I really like free heat! Some places to go are saw mills, cabinet shops, school wood shop, municipality, tree trimmers and the list goes on.

There are two different flat die pellet mills. One is the regular mill that is die driven(die turns) and roller stationary. This one was originally made to make feed pellets out of soft material. It is geared higher and runs faster than the wood mills. It makes soft material faster and wood material slower. The other pellet mill is roller driven(roller turns) and die stationary. This is the new design.

So, which pellet mill should you get to make wood pellets? A roller driven pellet mill works much better for wood pellets. In a roller driven machine,the rollers turn and the die is in a fixed position. This is geared lower and makes wood material much faster and soft material slower because it runs slower. A great diesel pellet mill is the GH model from GardenHeat.com. It comes in the GH200, GH250, GH300 and GH350. This is a rugged diesel wood pellet mill thats not picky about what you put into it. The rollers turn and the die is fixed. It is geared lower to make wood pellets out of sawdust, wood chips, shavings, etc., but will make all of your other materials such as hay, straw, grasses, corn stalk,etc. The rollers and bearings are heavy duty and outlast other pellet mills by up to 4 times.

If you need a larger machine and more power, take a look at the D360 and D400. These are the only two D models that are roller driven and die fixed. They are both powered by a diesel 55HP and have 3 rollers!                                                                                                                                                    
 
If you would like an electric wood pellet mill made to make wood pellets, the WD model is the one to have. This is roller driven and die fixed. It's geared lower to use wood material,but will easily do your other materials. It uses a 208-230V 60HZ electric motor.
